Since 1992, Ghana’s election results have run parallel to that of the United States, where if the Republican Party wins, Ghana’s NPP also wins. Conversely, anytime there was victory for the US Democratic Party, the NDC also assumes power in Ghana. Politicians in Ghana have made inferences to the US election in the past depending on where they belong, to project the election results. Radio Ghana finds out from a Political Scientist, Dr. Kwame Asah-Asare whether there is any merit to this argument. Dr. Asah-Asare told GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey that the election result in the United States will have no bearing on that of Ghana. This is because factors that influence voter choices differ in both countries.
