The People of Oluahai Community near Klo-Agogo in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region have made a passionate appeal to the government through the Municipal Chief Executive, Eric Tetteh and the Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo Constituency, Albert Tetteh Nyarkotey to help fix the road leading to the Community.

They made the appeal in an exclusive interview with GBC Sunrise FM when our reporter Michael Kofi Kenetey visited the Community.

Oluahai is a farming community with a population of about four hundred, located about two kilometres from Klo-Agogo in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The Community, which has a deplorable road network, is also challenged with the absence of potable water, school, and healthcare facility among others.

In an interview with GBC News during a visit to the Community, Assembly Member of Oluahai Electoral Area, Kofi Nartey pleaded with government, Non-Governmental Organizations and Philanthropists to come to their aid and construct the road leading to the Community.

Potable water is also needed in the community

Mr. Nartey lamented that when a woman is in labour, the youth in the Community will have to organize and carry the person on a bench to be transported to the Klo-Agogo Polyclinic.

“When constructed, the road will help link Sekesua and Asesewa in the Lower Manya District to Klo-Agogo”.

Hopefully it will help to boost trading activities in communities in the area.

The Catechist of the Roman Catholic Church at Oluahai, Thompson Okletey, in an interview noted that due to the poor road network, the farmers are unable to transport their farm produce to the market in order to generate income.

The Dademantse of Oluahai, Tetteh Isaka, said Communal labour is organized occasionally to keep the road in shape however, their efforts always prove futile hence the call on government to come to their aid.

The Head teacher of Oluahai M/A Primary School, Jonathan Tetteh, spoke about some of the concerns, saying,

“Then the students sometimes report to school without bathing due to the absence of water in the Community”.
