Street Hawking also known as street vending is a global phenomenon where people earn their living through selling products on the streets and public places.

This has become a booming business for such people.

However, street hawking is a risky practice as it comes with many hazards particularly in Ghana.

Although these hawkers resort to such trading to feed themselves and their families, the practice continues to assume alarming proportions of danger as the hawkers vigorously compete with cars and commuters for space and engage in chasing after vehicles to sell their wares.

Most traders spoke about the dangers on the streets while they compete with moving vehicles saying thats what they do to earn a living.

Despite the practice posing danger to themselves, drivers and motorists, hawkers have to make a living to fend for themselves and their families.

Until measures are in place to check street hawking, the vendors would continue to increase and like a ticking time bomb, waiting to explode.
