110 people arrested for not using footbridge on Madina-Adenta Highway

The Madina Divisional MTTD, has arrested 110 pedestrians for not using the footbridge on the Madina-Adenta Highway. Despite the construction of the footbridges, many people have refused to use them at the expense of their lives.
Speaking on news and current affairs Behind the News, the Divisional MTTD Commander, Superintendent Paul Baah, said two accidents have been recorded so far this year, hence the danger exists which is why it is important to protect the lives of road users.
Superintendent Baah said some of the culprits have been sent to court and others put on bail to appear in court today.
The Assembly Member for Adenta West, Rashid Osei Bonsu, has commended the Adenta Police for the arrest of 110 persons who were caught crossing the road instead of using the footbridge.
According to him, although the footbridge is about 95% complete, it is safe to use.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Highway Authority, Diana Seade said, the Authority has done its best in sensitising individuals in the Adenta-Madina Community to the importance of using the footbridge.
Therefore the responsibility now lies with them, either to use the footbridge or risk their lives and that of motorists.
