The ban on fishing which started on May 15 will be lifted Saturday, June 15 with a ceremony at Prampram.
According to a Fisheries Analyst with the UN Sustainable Fisheries Management Project, Kofi Agbogah, the ban was highly complied with.
He noted that there will be no significant change in the fish stock.
The purpose of the ban is to allow for fingerlings to grow and increased fish stock.
Meanwhile, Executive Secretary of the Ghana National Canoe Council, Nii Abeo Kyerekwanda says the ban this time round was not scientific and not worthwhile. He said next time government should consult with scientists to determine the right season to impose the ban.
Nii Kyerekwanda agreed that the fishing community would be glad to start fishing to earn their livelihoods.
