A forty-footer container fell off the trailer this yesterday at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle fly- over. The accident compounded the usual heavy Friday rush hour vehicular traffic.
Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the driver of the trailer said the accident occurred when he lost control of the steering when he was climbing the fly-over.
He said as he tried to reverse to maintain his control of the steering, the trailer lost its balance and fell, virtually blocking the road, denying other on-coming vehicles access.
GBC’s reporter Eugenia Asumadu-Sakyi, who was at the accident scene, said there were no casualties.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ambulance Service, NADMO and Ghana National Fire Service were at the scene to ensure that the situation is properly managed.
A Chief Inspector at the Nima Police MTTD, Felix Tse said the driver will be prosecuted for violating load limits for heavy duty trucks.
