The Institute of Industrial Research of CSIR in collaboration with Lancaster University, UK has launched an action research intervention for its Recirculate project at Gbegbeyise near Dansoman in Accra.
The intervention which falls under the Water for Sanitation and Health component with the aim at safeguarding potable water provisioning to informal settlers has seen the installation of weather stations, construction of drainage systems and provision of handwashing facilities in the two beneficiary communities, Madina Zongo and Gbegbeyise.
Speaking at the launch, Deputy Director at the Water Research Institute of CSIR, Dr William Agyekum encouraged the people to embrace the intervention to forestall the possible outbreak of water borne diseases through improved sanitation.
