The Dean of Studies at the Institute of Local Government Studies, Fred Agyarko Oduro says there is the need for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to remain neutral when communicating issues on Governance.
He said CSOs at all times should present the facts on issues and allow the people to make their own judgment.
Contributing to GBC’s current affairs programme “Focus”, which discussed the 2020 Elections, Mr Agyarko Oduro observed that people mostly find it difficult to make informed decisions when CSOs take a stand on national issues.
Mr Agyarko Oduro identified lack of consultation in policy implementation and project execution as the bane of the country’s development.
He noted that most projects have become white elephants because the target people were not consulted at the initial stages of execution.
On Corruption, a Research Analyst at the Centre for Democratic Development, Gilfred Asiamah asserted that the two major political parties — New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) have failed in efforts at addressing the canker, as it is low on their agenda.
