Farm Radio International supports GBC

Farm Radio International, a Canadian Charity Organisation through its Covid-19 Emergency Fund has supported GBC’s Garden City Radio in Kumasi with an amount of ¢5,000.00 to purchase Personal Protective Equipment including a voice recording machine aimed at assisting the state broadcaster to deliver accurate, reliable, and impactful information in response to the challenges presented by COVID-19.

In times of crises such as COVID-19, it’s more important than ever for exceptional communication efforts to deliver well-conceived, reliable, gender-inclusive, and effective messages.

In times like these, radio is a particularly effective way to disseminate critical information in a timely manner.

Farm Radio International recognises the significant impact that GBC’s stations across the country can play in response to community needs. It’s in respect of these that, Farm Radio International has supported GBC’s Garden City Radio to purchased PPE to augment management effort.

The items to be purchased include thermometer guns, veronica buckets, quantity of hand sanitisers, liquid soups, and boxes of face masks to augment management efforts in curtailing the spread of the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

Making the presentation, the contact person for the Farm Radio International Emergency Fund project Madam Atiso Rosetta, said the organisation thought it prudent to support the state broadcaster in the wake of the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 disease.

Madam Atiso Rosetta urged the staff of GBC to continue to observe health protocols and to keep social distancing as much as possible.

Receiving the donation, the Ashanti Regional Director of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Alhaji Alhassan Abubakari, commended the Farm Radio International for the kind donation which, he said, was very timely.

He said the gesture will go a long way to complement the safety measures the management has put in place to protect its staff and resource persons from being infected by the novel virus.
