A feud between two clans in a community within the Saboba District in the Northern Region has left at least one person dead and some property burnt.

There were reports of sporadic gunshots in the community, but Police say calm has been restored.

Military and Police personnel have also been deployed in the area to prevent further escalation.

GBC’s Murtala Issah reports that this is a three-decade-old outstanding land dispute.

“It usually rears its head during this period of the year when farming starts. When the rains begin, the people commence farming. There is confusion as to who actually owns that piece of land and who has the right to cultivate on that piece of land.”
