Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has denied media reports suggesting that she played a role in the government’s engagement with the Chinese firm, StarTimes Corporation in the management of Ghana’s digital terrestrial transmission (DTT) platform.

According to her, although her foundation, The Rebecca Foundation, has a working relationship to improve the wellbeing of the vulnerable in society, the foundation has neither directly nor indirectly influenced government’s choice of StarTimes Corporation.

A statement issued by the Office of the First Lady said, “StarTimes has never been, at any time, a partner of the Foundation as has been suggested.”

It explained that, the only time the Foundation engaged StarTimes was when the media firm offered football kits to be donated through the Foundation to the SOS Children’s Village, where the First Lady is a patron.
