The Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) have engaged armed Police Officers to help assist it evict squatters from its land at Sepe in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region. The eviction of the squatters was as a result of a court order secured by GACL.

Bailiffs from the Court with assistance from the police were on sit to clear the area.

The squatters comprise truck drivers and mechanics who park their vehicles on the land while other individuals have put up temporary structures including Church buildings on the land.

Notices cited on the walls surrounding the land were an order from the GACL for the squatters to vacate the areas since February 2024.

Most of the squatters with children have been left stranded in the wake of the ongoing demolition exercise as others were busy removing their belongings before the “machines of destruction” get to them.

The land on which the squatters are being evicted from is close to the Agenda 111 Hospital project site for the Asokore Mampong Municipality.

Assembly Member for the Sepe Timpom Electoral Area, Awudu Abubakar Yakayaka said the opinion leaders have not been involved in the execution of the court order.
