The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has called on the MP for Asawase Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka to retract allegations of bribery against a Supreme Court judge relative to the election of the Speaker of Parliament.

A statement signed by the National President of the GBA Anthony Forson said the Bar finds the comments totally unacceptable and called on the MP to apologize to the Justices of the Supreme Court and the Judiciary in general.

The statement urged Ghanaians to be cautious when making statements regarding public officers and persons occupying positions of trust.

The statement condemned the mayhem that occurred in parliament during the election of the Speaker of Parliament.

It said it is the expectation of the GBA that there will be no such chaotic scene in Parliament in future and that Parliamentarians will always strive to safeguard Ghana’s democratic credentials.
