GBC’s Clara Mlano honoured as Manya Krobo Ngmayem Yokama 2025

GBC News broadcast journalist, Clara Mlano, has been honoured as one of this year’s Manya Krobo Ngmayem Yokama, a recognition bestowed upon distinguished Krobo women for their exceptional contributions to society on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Yokama Day, also known as Krobo Women’s Day, is celebrated annually as part of the Ngmayem Festival to honour hardworking and trailblazing Krobo women across the globe. Each year, two or more women are recognised as symbols of inspiration and excellence in their respective fields.

This year’s celebration saw Ms. Clara Mlano and Dr. Mrs. Edith Osei, a Krobo-born nurse based in the United States; receive the prestigious honour for their outstanding service and dedication in their professions.

Ms. Mlano, a respected journalist with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, was commended for her impactful storytelling, commitment to public service broadcasting, and her role in amplifying the voices of women and communities through the media.

The Yokama Day celebration precedes the main Ngmayem Festival activities, serving as a platform to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Krobo women to national and community development.

Ms. Mlano expressed gratitude to the traditional authorities and organisers for the honour, dedicating the recognition to all women striving to make a difference in their chosen fields.

The Ngmayem Festival remains one of Ghana’s most vibrant traditional celebrations, highlighting the cultural pride and heritage of the Krobo people while showcasing excellence and unity among its sons and daughters worldwide.
