The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) have shut down an illegal factory producing cannabis-infused alcohol at Ntiribuoho in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The factory, which was hidden inside a two-bedroom house within a poultry farm, was used to make a cannabis-laced drink called Famude, also sold as Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur.

The raid was carried out by a team of seven officers—four from NACOC and three from the FDA. They seized large quantities of unapproved alcoholic drinks and suspected illegal drugs. One person was arrested during the operation, while others managed to escape.

Police are currently searching for the remaining suspects.

Officials from NACOC and FDA said the factory posed a danger to public health and broke Ghana’s laws on food and drug safety. They warned the public not to consume such unapproved products, as they could cause serious harm.

“This operation shows our strong commitment to stopping the spread of harmful and illegal substances,” an FDA spokesperson said. “We will continue to increase our checks and enforcement activities nationwide.”

The arrested suspect is in custody and helping with investigations. Authorities are asking the public to report any suspicious activities in their communities.
