Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says the perception that there is a return to the culture of silence in the country is not true.
He said this in a response to a question at an interaction with Journalists in Wa in the Upper West Region.
Mr. Nkrumah said government has rather been creating more conducive atmosphere for the media to thrive. He cited the passage of the Information Act as one of the commitments of government to enhance media freedom.
The Information Minister said people need to be tolerant of views they disagree with instead of branding it as culture of silence.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah also spoke about the closure of some radio and television stations by the National Communication Authority for lack of authorisation, saying that should not be misconstrued as a return to the culture of silence.
