Founder and President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Rev Dr Lawrence Tetteh, has said no government, police or military officer can police prophecies, even as he acknowledged the need for some regulation.
His comments follow reports of a directive from the Presidency for all prophecies to be reviewed before being made public. Rev Tetteh said prophets should be allowed to operate within the bounds of biblical principles.
This comes after a prophecy made by Prophet Roja about the late Defence Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, a day before he died in a helicopter crash along with seven other state officials.
Rev Tetteh also criticised politicians for ignoring problematic prophecies when they work in their favour.
“I blame the politicians because if the prophecy is in their favour, they don’t see anything wrong with it,” he said.
He further expressed concern over the media’s readiness to publicise certain prophecies, describing some as “complete absurdity”. According to him, prophecies should be grounded in the Word of God.
“Truth be told, some of the prophecies do not make sense. We all live in this country, and we know the good, bad, and ugly. We know of some prophecies that take people’s lives for granted,” he added.
Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show on August 14, 2025, Rev Tetteh stressed that private prophecies should be handled discreetly rather than made public. He advised prophets to deliver their messages with wisdom and discretion, especially when dealing with sensitive or potentially disturbing information.
