It has now emerged that, Atimpoku the capital of the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern Region of Ghana, has no toilet facility.

Atimpoku  is located along the Volta River and a tourist destination.

The central toilet which broke down over the year and contract awarded to Kromex through Ghana First and to complete within six months has not been grounded to a halt over a year now.

The District Environmental officer Doris Acqua, could not however, tell why the centralized toilet projects has been abandoned.

In furtherance to non-existent place of convenience, Juma Esi in contact with the Environmental Office gave the go ahead to convert her private toilet for public use by charging 50 pesewas per person per day.

Radio Ghana can authoritatively say foreign tourists cannot walk along the banks of the Volta River because of heavy pollution of the river fronts.
