PMMC boss, Opare Hammond dies

The Managing Director of the Precious Mineral Marketing Commission (PMMC), Dr. Kwadwo Opare-Hammond, has died.

He died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Friday.

In 2004, Dr. Opare-Hammond became the first legislator for the Adenta Constituency after it was separated from the Ashaiman Constituency.

In 2017, he was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to head the PMMC.

The New Patriotic Party, (NPP), has expressed sadness at the passing of Dr. Opare-Hammond, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, (GNA) the party’s  National Youth Organiser, Nana Boakye, confirming his death, said Dr. Opare-Hammond was sent to the Kotoka International Airport Clinic after arriving from a trip but was subsequently transferred to Korle-Bu to receive a specialized care where he passed on.

President Nana Akufo, on Saturday visited his residence to commiserate with his family.
