President John Dramani Mahama has visited the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and Biopolis as part of his commitment to championing quality, affordable and equitable education at all levels, while exploring models that link research, industry, and innovation.
At SIT, Singapore’s first university of applied learning, the President was briefed on how the institution blends industry-relevant degree programmes with real-world experience to prepare graduates for the future of work.

The university’s distinctive pedagogy integrates study with workplace immersion, while its applied research supports industry innovation and growth. Its upcoming campus at the Punggol Digital District is set to further deepen collaboration between academia, industry, and the wider community.

President Mahama also toured Biopolis, Singapore’s premier research hub for biomedical sciences located at one-north. The facility brings together top public and private institutions across the life sciences value chain, from drug discovery and clinical development to medical technology research.
Established by JTC, Biopolis anchors Singapore’s vision of biomedical research as a key driver of economic growth.

The President said lessons from these visits will inform his plans to strengthen Ghana’s education system and expand research-driven innovation to boost national development.
