Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire have for several decades been touted as the leading cocoa producers in Africa and the world at large.
However, China’s entry into cocoa production has sent shivers down the spine of many in the sector. A cross-section of the public GBC NEWS spoke to were convinced that with time, China will be a leading force in the cocoa industry and urged government to channel more resources into the cocoa sector to enable it to withstand the emerging competition.
Others downplayed the impact of China’s cocoa saying the quality may not be as Ghana’s own.
