The Anglican Communion in Ghana and the British High Commission have organized a service in Accra, to celebrate the life of the late British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth who died on September 8, 2022 at age 96. Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, in a remark described Queen Elizabeth as a selfless person who played an instrumental role in ensuring unity and peace around the world, especially among members of the Commonwealth.

Queen Elizabeth died peacefully as was announced by Buckingham Palace, last Thursday, a year and a half after the death of her husband, Prince Philip. In a Homily, Primate, Church of the Province of West Africa, Archbishop of Internal Province of Ghana, Most Rev, Dr. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith, said Queen Elizabeth was dedicated to her calling and this was evident in her acknowledging God in all her dealings.

The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, said Queen Elizabeth was a leader who led with courage and grace.
Vice President Bawumia said 70 years of reign as Queen of the United Kingdom and as head of the Commonwealth is worth celebrating.
He expressed condolences to King Charles, the Royal family and members of the Commonwealth.

The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, members of the British High Commission and the Ga Traditional Council among others were present at the service.
A minute silence was observed in honor of the Queen.
