The Akrofu Traditional Council has issued a warning to the general public over what it describes as a growing security threat in the Akrofu Traditional Area, where a number of individuals have been falsely parading themselves as chiefs and queen mothers.

In a press statement released on Thursday, April 24,2025, the Council expressed deep concern over the actions of certain individuals who have assumed unapproved traditional titles such as “Ag. Paramount Chief,” “Paramount Queen Mother,” “Fiator,” and “Afetorfia” — titles the Council insists are either non-existent or currently occupied within the Akrofu Traditional hierarchy.

Specifically mentioned in the release are Kennedy Kwesi Agbotse, a businessman who reportedly presented himself as “Togbe Agbo Kwesi II, Ag. Paramount Chief of Akrofu,” and Victor Atefoe, a teacher at Kpando Senior High School, who styled himself as “Ag. Afetorfia Afefoe of Akrofu Xeviwofe.” Others named include Ahingble Kodzo, who claimed to be “Fiator of Akrofu,” and Madam Atefoe Eunice, alleged to be using the title “Ag. Mamaga Nyuietor II, Paramount Queen Mother of Akrofu.”

The Council emphasized that these individuals are not recognized under the customs and laws of Akrofu and cautioned the public, event organizers, government institutions, political parties, churches, and diplomatic agencies against acknowledging or engaging them in any official capacity.

“There are only two recognized stools in the Akrofu Traditional Area,” the statement clarified, naming the Foli Stool of Akrofu Xevowofe as the Paramount Stool, and the Koku Duah (Dzanku) Stool of Akrofu Agorve as the Divisional Stool. Both stools, according to the Council, are duly occupied by legitimate traditional leaders.

The current Paramount Chief is Togbega Komla Foli X, with Mamaga Akua Sabea Nyabor VII serving as the Paramount Queen Mother and Acting President of the Akrofu Traditional Council.

The Council further alleged that high-profile individuals, including diplomats and retired public servants, are backing these acts of impersonation for personal gain, a situation the Council says it will resist firmly.

In addition to warning impersonators to desist immediately or risk facing serious consequences, the Council called on security agencies to stay alert as some parties may be exploiting the situation for financial gain. It also cautioned media outlets to verify any stories related to the history or chieftaincy of Akrofu directly with the Council, urging the removal of already published misinformation.

The statement was signed by Mamaga Akua Sabea Nyabor VII, Paramount Queen Mother and Acting President of the Akrofu Traditional Council.

  1. Portia, women are known to be peacemakers. When men are fighting, it is the women who step in to help end the conflict. What you are doing will destroy our beautiful community.
When were you born to decide who can call themselves a queen or a chief? The falsehoods you have been fed with should be tested in court. You already have a case in court, fighting over the same issue.
To you, whatever you are doing is right, but what others are doing is wrong. Many others began this chieftaincy dispute before you ask yourself, where are they today?
We must be careful with our utterances; otherwise, what is happening in Bawku could easily happen here in the village of Akrofu. Promote peace, not war. Women are not known to be warmongers; they are peacemakers.
We know the real reason why you are doing this it is because of the unity between Tokor and Agove. The people of Agove have chosen to stand by the truth and have recognized the Xe-Adzadi Stool, not the Foli Stool.
Moreover, the Agove chief has even challenged the credibility of this so-called Foli Stool in court, arguing that if you (Gbela/Aveme Clan), are now claiming your stool name is Foli Stool, then the Agove stool is actually older and therefore, the paramountcy should rightfully be their heritage.
Were you and your people invited to the event at Agove? That alone should tell you something. Perhaps you do not have a husband, let alone children, and that is why you do not understand the pain of childbirth, the pain of losing a child you brought into this world.
You need to come down from your high horse.
