The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has issued an official update on a disturbing video circulating on social media that shows the physical abuse of a young girl by some women.

In a statement dated January 4, 2026, the Ministry said it has been informed that the case was investigated by the Labadi Police on December 31, 2025. According to the Ministry, the suspects involved have since been charged and are expected to be arraigned before court this week.
To ensure due process and victim support, the Accra Regional Office of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) has been tasked to supervise the case.
The Ministry strongly condemned all forms of violence against children, stressing that no circumstance justifies the physical or emotional abuse of a child. It noted that such acts constitute serious violations of Ghana’s Children’s Act, 1998 (Act 560), and the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732).
MoGCSP reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on child abuse and violence, warning that anyone found guilty of harming a child will face the full force of the law. The Ministry emphasized that acts of abuse will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The statement further underscored that safeguarding the rights and welfare of children is a collective responsibility. Families, communities, and the general public were urged to remain vigilant and committed to ensuring that every child grows up in a safe and protective environment.
The Ministry also called on the public to report suspected cases of abuse through the Domestic Violence Call Centre on 0800-111-222, the Ministry’s Helpline of Hope Call Centre on 0800-800-800 or 0800-900-900, or at the nearest police station.
The statement was issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
