There is tension at Tiptoe Lane near the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange following an exercise by the Presidential Committee on Retail Trade under the Ministry of Trade and Industry to close down foreign-owned shops in Accra that are operating illegally.

According to the Committee, the closure has become necessary following the refusal of the Retailers to regularize their documents as directed by Government.

Following a confrontation with the Taskforce, some of the Retailers stated that they had taken steps to regularize their documents.
