Two persons are feared missing after a canoe carrying six passengers capsized on the Offin River near New Achiase in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region on Thursday morning.
The incident, which occurred around 8:00 a.m., is said to have happened when the paddler reportedly lost control of the canoe while transporting the passengers to their farms.
Confirming the development to Citi News, Daniel Adu, a former unit committee chairman, explained that while four passengers were rescued, two adult males remain unaccounted for.
“All six fell into the river. We managed to rescue four, but we are still searching for the other two,” he said.
Local residents have since launched a search for the missing passengers.
Authorities are yet to officially comment on the matter.
