Twenty-seven persons have been arrested following a police operation targeting illegal mining activities in Wassa Amanten in the Western Region.
The Western Regional Police Command, acting on intelligence, carried out the raid on multiple illegal mining sites in the area. The operation led to the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of a number of mining-related equipment.
Items retrieved include one tricycle, an unregistered Boxer motorbike, and several water pumping machines. Additionally, a changfan machine located at the scene was set ablaze during the operation.
According to the Police, all the suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations, while the seized items have been retained as evidence.
