A survey by Global InfoAnalytics suggests that a majority of Ghanaians believe their standard of living has improved compared with last year, according to its latest national tracking poll.
The survey indicates that 56% of respondents said their living conditions are better than they were a year ago. About 27% said their situation has remained the same, while 12% reported a decline. Five per cent said they had no opinion.
Looking ahead, the poll points to strong optimism among respondents. Seventy per cent said they expect their standard of living to improve further in 2026, while 18% said they are not optimistic.
On the 2026 national budget presented by the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, nearly two-thirds of respondents, 66%, said they were satisfied. Eighteen per cent expressed dissatisfaction, while 16% said they were neutral.
The poll also captured public views on governance. About 56% of respondents said they believe the level of corruption in the country has improved, while 60% said the government is doing enough to fight corruption.
On illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, 47% of those surveyed said the situation has not worsened under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, including 43% of respondents in mining areas.
The findings suggest that recent economic measures and governance efforts may be boosting public confidence in the country’s outlook for 2026.
