As part of a Joint Security Services Package on Internal Security and Counter Insurgency, 59 military officers from Ghana and other African countries have been trained on practical crowd control at the Ghana Police Detective Training Academy and the Formed Police Unit (FPU) Headquarters both at the Police Depot, Accra.
Participants were taken through riot control equipment and simulation exercises. They also discussed the principles of graduated use of force.
The programme is also to enhance the capacity and capability of security officers to be able to respond to insurgency situations as a cohesive unit.
