The Kaneshie Divisional Police Command has arrested two men for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition following a patrol operation at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.

The suspects, identified as Kwame Boahen, 35, a pillion rider, and Fatau Alhassan, 52, an okada rider, were intercepted on a Royal motorbike with a faded number plate on Saturday, 20 December 2025.

Police said the arrest followed an incident the previous day when the patrol team spotted the motorbike and attempted to stop it for a routine check. The suspects abandoned the bike and tried to flee but were caught after a brief chase.

A search of the men revealed a pistol (number 39363) with the inscription “CS HEAND SUH”, 72 rounds of ammunition, two wristwatches, and four mobile phones including an iPhone, LG phone, Blackberry, and a keypad phone.

The suspects have been cautioned and are in police custody assisting with investigations. The recovered items have been retained as evidence, and police are working to trace the owners of the phones and the source of the firearm and ammunition.

The Accra Regional Police Command called on the public to provide credible information to help combat crime and improve public safety.
