The children of the eight victims of the 6 August helicopter crash have been awarded full scholarships to pursue their education at DPS International School, Tema.
The initiative, a collaboration between B5 Plus Group and DPS International School, was officially announced at the Office of the Chief of Staff, where Julius Debrah received the offer on behalf of the bereaved families. Under the package, two children from each family will benefit from a complete scholarship covering tuition, uniforms and boarding facilities where required, from the basic level through to A-Levels.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah praised the move as “a shining example of the private sector’s commitment to nation-building and social responsibility.”

Also present at the ceremony, Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs and former Attorney-General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong applauded the initiative, describing it as an investment in the future of the children. She highlighted the strong academic reputation of DPS International, recalling one of its notable alumni, Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie, son of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is currently studying astronomy at Wesleyan University in the United States.
According to her, the initiative will be warmly welcomed by the President, as it stands not only as a tribute to the lives lost but also as a testament to the power of education in shaping brighter futures.
