Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited says it remains committed to becoming a strong symbol of development and investment in Ghana’s Upper East Region, despite growing tensions following a youth protest on May 15, 2026.

Speaking in a media interview after the demonstration, the Vice President of the company, Qi Xuanya, assured residents that the company values the concerns of the local people and is working hard to address them.

Mr Xuanya said management places a high priority on the welfare of surrounding communities and continues to engage stakeholders to ensure peaceful coexistence and sustainable development in the area.

He, however, expressed concern about the increasing protests and their possible impact on investor confidence in the region.

According to him, “Frequent demonstrations could create a negative impression of the Upper East Region and discourage potential investors from bringing development projects and employment opportunities to the area.”

Mr Xuanya appealed to the youth and community leaders to resort to dialogue and constructive engagement in resolving concerns affecting the mining company and the surrounding communities.

He reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting local development through job creation, infrastructure and other community-based initiatives.

The Friday protest reportedly attracted a number of young people who demanded greater attention to employment opportunities and other community concerns linked to the company’s operations.
