The National Communications Authority, NCA, has constituted an eight-member Dispute Resolution Committee, to adjudicate and resolve inherent troubles and disagreements in Ghana’s Telecom sector.
The Committee chaired by Professor Patrick Boateng, an academic with a lot of experience in the telecom industry, will start receiving petitions from 1st July 2024.
There will be no filing fees at the initial stages.
The Dispute Resolution Committee, of the National Communications Authority, NCA, has been on the drawing board for years, until the current management and board of the Authority decided to take the bull by the horn, to put it in place this year. The Committee is a creation of the law, under sections 84 and 85 of the Electronics Communication Act.

It gives the Committee the legal mandate to settle disputes among electronic communication practitioners and stakeholders in the telecom sector.
Individuals who have problems with a mobile network operator can also file a case with the Dispute Resolution Committee, for hearing. The Committee members are made up of a mix bag of professionals including lawyers, engineers, academics and experts in the telecom industry.
They are to ensure speedy resolution of disputes within the industry, thereby saving stakeholders the headache of running to the courts with their problems.
The members of the Committee are the Immediate past provost of the College of Engineering, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST. Prof. Mark Adom Asamoah, former Deputy Minister of Communications, Ama Pomaa Boateng, Dr Agyemang of the Office of the President and Prince Harry Crystal of the National Media Commission, NMC.
The rest are Kofi Owusu Nhyira, Kwesi Appiah and Sowah-Adjei with Nana Adobea Asante as Secretary to the Committee.
