DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil has been relieved of his role as leader of the IGP’s Special Operations Team as investigations continue into an alleged assault involving him and members of the unit.
He and other officers are currently under investigation over claims that they assaulted renowned artist Ibrahim Mahama.
A formal handing-over ceremony was held at the National Police Training School in Accra on April 7, 2026, to effect the leadership transition within the team.
During the ceremony, DSP Abdul Jalil officially transferred command to the newly appointed commander, Superintendent Augustine Dawson Amoah, who will be assisted by three senior officers.
In his brief remarks, the outgoing leader called on personnel to cooperate fully with the new leadership to ensure smooth operations and continuity.
Superintendent Amoah, in his address, pledged to provide strong leadership and urged officers to uphold discipline, unity, and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
