The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Ashanti Region has launched a new digital platform to collect real-time data at five major power stations. This system is expected to make electricity supply more reliable and efficient.
The new technology has been introduced at the Anwomaso, Ridge, Konongo, Obuasi, and Dunkwa Bulk Supply Points (BSPs).
Each station now uses a special tablet to send hourly updates directly to the System Controller. This live data helps workers quickly detect problems, analyze information, make better decisions, and respond faster to changes in electricity demand.
“This is a big change from our old manual system, which could be slow and sometimes had errors,” said Ing. Andrews Owusu Peprah, Operations Manager for Ashanti Sub-Transmission. “Now, we can work faster and more accurately.”
According to 3news, the General Manager, Ing. Peter Kofi Fletcher, also assured customers that ECG is committed to improving service quality.
He said this new step fits into ECG’s larger plan to provide stable and customer-friendly power across the country.
