A devastating fire has claimed the lives of six people, including a four-month-old baby, in the Atwima Nwabiagya South district of the Ashanti Region.
The fire, which occurred at Abuakwa Manhyia, is believed to have been caused by electric and power outages.
An eyewitness and tenant in the house, Vida, recounted the terrifying moment the fire broke out. According to her, power had gone off earlier in the evening and was restored around 11:45 p.m.
“The light went off yesterday evening, and when it came back on at 11:45pm, I heard shouting from my landlord’s room saying the house is on fire.We called the fire service, but they did not arrive on time, and six people were burnt into ashes” she said.
The fire ravaged the house, leaving nothing but ashes and charred remains.
Five of the victims were adult females, while the sixth was a four-month-old baby boy.
Mr Kwakye who shares a wall with the burnt house expressed his distress over the incident, describing it as a nightmare. The community is in shock, and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

- Akua Love (Gladys Pokuaa)
- Asantewaa
- Mavis Osaa Beawaah
- Aseda
- Perry (the four-month-old baby boy)
