The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Sunrise FM’s Morning Show Host, Stephen Ampem-Darko Koranteng has been elected as the Eastern Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association, GJA with 18 votes out of the 30 valid votes cast with his strongest contender Yvonne Neequaye of TV3 securing 12 votes.
One of the contenders, Kanarku Neil Nii Amartey on the day of the election stepped down from the contest and threw his support behind GBC’s Ampem Darko.
For the Eastern Regional GJA Secretary position, GBC’s Eastern Regional Correspondent, Gloria Edinam Afful won the contest with a landslide margin securing 21 votes from the 30 valid votes cast with her contender, Isaac Akwetey Okunor securing nine votes.

In an interview with the newly elected Eastern Regional GJA Chairman, Stephen Ampem-Darko Koranteng, commended all his supporters and electorates for the confidence reposed in him.
He showed his appreciation to the Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Joseph Adjei for his massive support, advice and encouragement.
Mr. Ampem-Darko called on all to come on board to help reposition the GJA in the Eastern Region.
