The Ghana Hajj Board says there will be no pilgrimage to Mecca this year.
Chairman of the Board, Sheikh I.C Quaye, told journalists at a meeting in Accra that the decision was arrived after a meeting with the Ghana Hajj Agents Association.
This follows the June 12, 2021, announcement by the Saudi Government’s Ministry of Hajj and Ummrah Affairs to cancel this year’s pilgrimage due to the Covid 19-pandemic.
Covid -19 has indeed dealt a blow to many activities and the Hajj is no exception.
Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board, Sheik I.C Quaye, said it has decided to refund all the money so far paid by applicants who had plans to go on the pilgrimage.
Sheikh I.C Quaye, however, explained that those who wish to retain their fees with the board will be exempted from any payments during next year’s hajj.
The Hajj Board has assured pilgrims that all payments will be refunded in full.
