The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has appealed to the government to recruit nurses and midwives graduates who completed their studies from 2021 to 2024.

GRNMA urged the Ministry of Finance to immediately release funds for the recruitment of more than 1,000 nurses and midwives who completed training between 2021 and 2024 but are still awaiting government posting.

The Association warns that the prolonged delay in employing the graduates is leading to a deterioration of their professional skills.

The Vice President of the GRNMA, Mr. Samuel Akologo, addressing participants at a ceremony to mark International Youth Day on Tuesday, August 12, 2025,  called on the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance to expedite the clearance process.

“I cannot conclude these observations without calling on the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance to give the needed clearance for our 2021, 2022, and 2023 cohorts of qualified nurses and midwives.

As they sit at home, their skills are deteriorating. We cannot pretend to care about the health of the country if we are not ready to invest in its healthcare,” Mr. Akologo reiterated.
