The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has been discharged from hospital after receiving treatment following a road traffic accident.

In a statement released on Saturday, 14 February 2026, the Ministry of Education (Ghana) confirmed that the minister had been treated and released from the 37 Military Hospital, where he had been under medical observation.

According to the statement, Mr Iddrisu is in stable condition and has been advised by doctors to take a period of rest to support his full recovery. He also expressed gratitude to the medical staff who attended to him, as well as members of the public who offered prayers and goodwill messages.

The accident occurred on Thursday, February 12, 2026, along the Bolgatanga–Tumu road in the Upper West Region. Mr Iddrisu was travelling with the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, and their teams to official engagements when the crash happened.

The ministers were en route to events marking the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education.
