A special fund set up to support the children of victims of Ghana’s August 6 helicopter crash has received more than GH₵8.6 million and $20,000 in donations.
The Children’s Support Fund was established by government to ensure the welfare and education of the children who lost their parents in the tragedy, which claimed several lives when a Ghana Air Force helicopter went down during a routine flight in the Western Region.
According to the latest public update issued on Friday, October 17, contributions have come from institutions including the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the Energy Commission, the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company, and the Bui Power Authority, among others.
The fund is coordinated by Dr Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs. She said donations can still be made through Stanbic Bank Ghana accounts or approved mobile money platforms.
