A group of 27 editors and journalists from 17 countries across Central and West Africa and the Pacific have arrived in New Delhi for a Media Familiarisation Visit organised and sponsored by the Government of India.
The delegation landed on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, ahead of the official start of the programme, which runs from January 14 to 22.
The visit is aimed at strengthening India–Africa media cooperation, while offering participants first-hand exposure to India’s political institutions, technological advancements, cultural heritage and economic landscape.
Participants represent leading media organisations from countries including Ghana, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Mauritania, Niger, the Republic of Congo, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone and Togo, alongside journalists from Fiji, Kiribati, Tonga and the Cook Islands.

Ghana is represented by journalists from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Ghana News Agency, Joy News, TV3, Business and Financial Times, and The High Street Journal.
Programme highlights
The visit officially begins on Wednesday, January 14, with engagements in New Delhi, including a briefing at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), a meeting with the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), a call on India’s Secretary for Skill Development, and a cultural visit to Dilli Haat.
Subsequent days will feature high-level institutional visits and interactions, including tours of Rashtrapati Bhawan, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), and Asian News International (ANI), as well as meetings with senior officials at India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The programme also includes visits to the Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region, the National Museum, and a day trip to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
The delegation will later travel to Mumbai, where engagements are scheduled with the Export–Import Bank of India, the National Payments Corporation of India, the Bombay Stock Exchange and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. Cultural highlights in Mumbai include visits to the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, Mumbai Film City and the Gateway of India.
The visit will conclude on Thursday, January 22, with participants returning to their respective countries from Mumbai.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the programme is designed to provide journalists with deeper insight into India’s development model and media ecosystem, while creating opportunities for sustained collaboration between Indian and African media professionals.
