Kingdom Family International Church at Race Course in Accra has held its annual cooking competition as part of activities marking the Christmas festivities.
The event, held on December 26, is a tradition that brings together members of the church and sister churches to fellowship and socialise.
Speaking to GBCGhanaOnline, the Head of Media and Communications, Reverend Richard Opoku Brobey, said the programme provides an opportunity to foster fellowship, strengthen unity and nurture talent among members.
“For Kingdom Family, every December 26 we gather and organise a cooking competition. There is a variety of meals, plenty to drink, and we have fun together as a family,” he said.
He added that the event plays a significant role in the life of the church by promoting Christian fellowship and togetherness.
“Having a day set aside for the people of God to enjoy themselves, bring families together, and unite in the spirit of oneness, unity and love is one of the best things we can do,” he noted.
Rev Brobey observed that participation this year had increased significantly compared with the previous year, reflecting growing interest and the positive impact of the initiative within the church community.
“Comparing last year to this year, there has been a massive improvement in both numbers and participation. This is our way of bonding, spending time together and breaking bread as a family,” he said.
He also encouraged Ghanaians, particularly Christians, to embrace unity and share the message of hope associated with Christmas.
Some participants who spoke to the news team said the event helped to build new friendships beyond regular church services.
“Outside the usual Saturday and Sunday services and prayer meetings, this brings us together. We share ideas, bond and make new friends through our different skills, especially in cooking,” one participant said.
Others recommended the initiative to other churches as a way of strengthening relationships among members.
“I encourage other churches to include this in their annual programmes to help deepen fellowship,” another participant added.
