President John Dramani Mahama says the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative has now moved beyond being just a campaign slogan and has become a full national strategy aimed at boosting productivity and creating more opportunities for Ghanaians.

Speaking at the official launch of the policy in Accra on Wednesday July 2, 2025, President Mahama stated that the idea, which caught national attention in 2024, is no longer just a symbol of hope, but a structured plan to drive economic growth and improve lives.

“We have moved from slogan to strategy today,” he declared, In 2024, the idea of a 24-hour economy captured national attention. It became a slogan of hope, a symbol that change was necessary and possible.” he said

He stressed that the real challenge lies in how well the policy is put into action. “This launch is not the end, but the beginning of a massive national mobilisation,” the President said.

President Mahama also addressed public doubts about the initiative, clarifying that the 24-Hour Economy is not merely about longer working hours. Rather, it focuses on increasing productivity, encouraging exports, and creating inclusive growth across key sectors.

“The 24+ Agenda is not just about extending working hours. It is about unleashing productivity, expanding opportunities, and accelerating exports through well-structured and inclusive interventions,” he explained.

The 24-Hour Economy policy forms a major part of the Mahama administration’s economic development agenda and is expected to create jobs, draw investment, and make Ghana more competitive on the global stage.
