President John Mahama has donated two cars, which he has received as gifts to the state, on Monday, May 5, 2025.

The donation was made following some of the code of conduct which was unveiled by the president at the presidency, stating that gifts and hampers received by government appointees with an estimated value exceeding GHC20,000 must be declared.

Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu presented the vehicles on behalf of the president to the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah.

During the unveiling of the new Code of Conduct, the President emphasized that receiving gifts in any form could potentially influence government decisions, and therefore, such practices must come to an end.

“We must now draw a clear line between appreciation and influence. Appointees are prohibited from accepting gifts or favors, especially from companies or individuals with interests in governmental decisions,” President Mahama stated.

The Code of Conduct, presented to government appointees, is designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and help curb corruption in the country.

By taking this action, the President is setting a strong example for the appointees to follow, reinforcing the commitment to uphold integrity and ethical standards in governance.
