The Executive Director of WACAM, a ‘responsible mining’ advocacy NGO, Daniel Owusu-Koranteng, has called on the government to make public the Appiatse Committee’s report.
He has also called for a Comprehensive Resettlement, Rehabilitation and Compensation packages for the families of the 14 deceased persons following the explosion and strict enforcement of the country’s mining regulations.
In an interview with GBC’s Seth Eyiah in Accra, Mr. Owusu-Koranteng was unhappy with the six million-dollar fine imposed on the Maxam Company for not respecting the regulations regarding the transportation of mining explosives.
