A Communication Expert, Naa Akwei Nee-Okpey says men must speak up when they experience sexual abuse because reporting sexual abuse does not make them less of a man.
Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show on the topic of Gender Based Violence (GBV), she said although men are reported to be perpetrators of GBV, they also encounter sexual violence.
“There are men who are sexually abused, but they don’t talk about it. It is ok for a man to cry and talk about how they feel,” she said.
“You speaking up after suffering sexual and gender-based violence as a man does not in any way make you less of a man,” she added.
Naa Atwei said no one should condone or perpetrate sexual abuse, for it is a crime.
She urged everyone to speak up when sexually abused without fear to make Ghana a better place.
