The Ghana National Service Authority (GNSA) has warned that service personnel found to be in full-time employment while undertaking national service risk facing sanctions unless they report immediately to regularise their status.
The Authority said personnel who are simultaneously employed—particularly within the public sector—must report to any of its regional offices or the head office in Accra. The move, it said, follows the submission of full enrolment lists for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 service years, including general, nurses, and teachers enrolment, to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for verification.
The exercise aims to identify individuals receiving dual income—one from their employment and the other from national service allowances—in breach of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119).
GNSA has set Friday, 23 May 2025, as the deadline for voluntary compliance.
After this date, any personnel found to have engaged in fraudulent conduct will face administrative sanctions, including immediate removal from the national service payroll, prosecution, and permanent disqualification from future public service.
The Authority urged all affected individuals to take advantage of the current window to avoid legal consequences. It reiterated its commitment to integrity, accountability, and transparency in national service administration.
