The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is calling on passport applicants who paid for processing before the rollout of the new chip-embedded passports to take immediate action.

In a statement issued on Friday, July  4, 2025, the Ministry said, individuals who made payment but have not completed their passport application process prior to the introduction of the new system on April 28, 2025, are affected by a portal shutdown. The digital platform that hosted applications under the old passport system is currently out of use due to the migration to the new chip-embedded passport regime.

The Ministry is urging all affected applicants to contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit via the number 0302 754 200 for assistance and further guidance. It said although the new portal for chip-embedded passports remains accessible at passport.mfa.gov.gh, applicants from the previous system must now seek direct support.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public to ensure a smooth transition and efficient service delivery.
