President Akufo-Addo, Mahama join in State Burial for ET Mensah

A  State funeral has been held at the Forecourt of the State House for the former Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency and Council of State member, Enoch Teye Mensah, popularly known as ET Mensah.

The astute politician who is known for his immense love and contribution to football passed away in South Africa in October, 2023, after battling ill health for some time. 

Hundreds of mourners, including public office holders, politicians, and relatives, gathered at the State House on Friday, January 5, 2024, to pay their last respects to the Statesman.

Dignitaries, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former President, John Dramani Mahama, former Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, and a host of personalities from all walks of life, were present at the ceremony to bid the former Ningo-Prampram legislator farewell.

Tributes described him as a man who truly served Ghana well.

The State’s tribute  was read by the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng who  said although ET Mensah was not perfect, his dedication to duty and rise from  a humble beginning to greatness is a feat worth emulating by the youth.

The NDC in its tribute read by General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey said ET Mensah was a trailblazer and someone who found an antidote to political failures.

A tribute by the Council of State said they will miss his calming influence.

In a sermon, a Retired Moderator of the Methodist Church, the Rt Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante said ET Mensah served God and humanity and invested in his afterlife.
